[Artist Statement]
“If I were to use a baseball analogy, I feel that up until now I have been struggling to hit back the balls that flew at me before thinking about them. This time, I faced each ball as if I were trying to figure out whether to swing the bat or not, and I put it into the form of a solo exhibition for the first time in a year and a half.”

[Artist]
Ryoki Kurasaki
The artist attempts to pursue the reality of the motif by burning the part of the oil portrait that used to be the eyes. The phenomena and materials generated by the flames as a metaphor for life, the exposed space, and the structure of the canvas itself are important components of the work.
https://dmoarts.com/artists/ryoki-kurasaki/
Koga Miura
He mainly creates two-dimensional works based on the theme of "chance, randomness, the boundary between manual and mechanical work, and labor. His method of production, in which decisions such as color scheme and composition are determined by random numbers, is intended to eliminate the hesitation that occurs in the process of creating an image from the picture plane, and to reflect an unconscious and pure act. He creates his works in order to reconsider the indifferent everyday life, so that even mechanically painted works can have their own unique expression.

ART OSAKA 2021, the 19th edition of the contemporary art fair, will be held from July 18 (Sun.) to 20 (Tue.) [Preview: Sunday, July 18, 12:00 - 16:00] at the Osaka Central Public Hall (a nationally designated Important Cultural Property). ART OSAKA" has the longest history of any ongoing art fair in Japan, and has been supported as a hotel-style art fair specializing in contemporary art. This year, ART OSAKA will take a new step forward by stepping out of the hotel and collaborating with Osaka's representative modern architecture.
The venue, Osaka Central Public Hall, is located in Nakanoshima and has been a popular venue for cultural, artistic, and social activities since its completion in 1918. The area is also the focus of much attention, with the National Museum of Art, Osaka, the Nakanoshima Library, the Festival Hall, and many other cultural spots in the vicinity, as well as the new Nakanoshima Art Museum, which will open in 2022. Nakanoshima is also surrounded by the Dojima River to the north and the Tosabori River to the south, making it an attractive environment surrounded by water and greenery despite being in the heart of the city.
ART OSAKA 2021" will be held in this beautiful cultural arts area. This year, 46 galleries of the best talent will gather to present paintings, sculptures, photographs, videos, prints, and installations selected with the gallerist's unique aesthetic eye. We hope that this will be an opportunity for you to encounter a special piece of art. We hope you will enjoy the fusion of the public hall, where you can feel the breath of culture and art that has continued since the Taisho era, and contemporary art works that live in the present.
Admission is by advance reservation only, and the number of people in the venue will be limited. In order for everyone to enjoy the fair with peace of mind, we will take the utmost care to ensure that the fair is conducted safely and in accordance with guidelines for the prevention of new coronavirus infections. We sincerely appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

Hanako Kimura Solo Exhibition「@Same_Not_Same」
2021. 7. 17 Sat. - 2021. 7. 28 Wed.
Preview: 2021. 7. 02 Fri. 15:00―19:00
DMOARTS will premiere Kimura's new project of the same name at contemporary artist Hanako Kimura's solo exhibition @Same_Not_Same.
Through his work, Kimura shows that seemingly opposing concepts can be mixed and matched as inseparable entities, and that there is a vast gray zone lying in between.
In his latest series, which includes photography, three-dimensional works, and an Instagram account, Kimura focuses on a product called LILLEPLUTT - a soft toy in the shape of a cat - sold by IKEA, a large company with 445 stores in 59 countries worldwide.
These adorable toys are mass-produced and sold as the same product all over the world. However, due to differences in the manufacturing process, no two are identical in appearance, and the price varies depending on the country or region where they are sold, giving them a different meaning to their owners.
After winning the UNKNOWN ASIA 2018 Grand Prix, Kimura visited Asian countries and through this product, he is attempting to engage with the "individuals" of these countries and explore the reality of this world of which they, and we, are a part.
This exhibition is a record of the project at this time, and is a new chapter in the project in that viewers can participate in some of the works. We hope you will enjoy the exhibition.

He creates three-dimensional works inspired by the lines and shapes of doodles that he draws day in and day out.
By creating intuitively without a single motif, I am able to create works that are inspired by the lines and shapes of my daily doodles.
The immeasurable amount of memories that I have inside of me
I feel as if it appears in this form. It is nostalgic somehow, but
It is a new form that is both known and unknown.

Jasmine Noda
Born in 1996 in Thailand. She creates ceramic works and installations using them. Through her ceramic works, she refers to the relationship between "craft and art" with the aim of clarifying the multifaceted form of contemporary crafts. In the "ghost" series, he uses "cracking" as a decorative technique derived from modeling, extracting only the use from the vessels to create an ambivalent expression between the two sides of the same coin, such as "the representation of use and modeling. Major solo exhibitions include "Sinking into the Lake" (KITAHAMA N gallery, Osaka, 2020), and group exhibitions he has participated in include "ART OSAKA 2019", "Artist's Fair Kyoto 2020", and "A Day to Meet Contemporary Art at hotel koe tokyo" (Shibuya, Tokyo, 2020), "CNNECT" (Fujii Daimaru, Kyoto, 2021), etc.
Hal Osawa
1997 Born in Tokyo
2016 Graduated from Tama Art University, Department of Oil Painting
2021 Graduate School of Art, Kyoto University of Arts
The act of "reproduction" brings about "displacement. Even though an object is traced as it is, a subtle "shift" occurs, and even though it looks the same, it has already been transformed into something else (changes that occur when the illustration is reconstructed by transforming it into light and shadow, or the physicality of the person making the reproduction, coincidence, etc.). Such "displacement" also occurs when we communicate with others. Although we simply want to convey our thoughts to the other person in words, it is rare that our thoughts are conveyed in a straightforward manner. Understanding is always the sum of misunderstanding, and there is always a vague "membrane" that exists. I try to visualize such a "membrane," that is, the impossibility and incompleteness of communication, by borrowing it temporarily into a work of art that contains the "gap" created by the act of "reproduction. This is one of my creative concepts.

In Corona, Alan also thought about it. In a world of self-restraint, I want people to look at themselves and feel a sense of being alive by depicting the transitions in people's hearts and the expressions on their faces at a moment's notice. Art is a means. I want to entertain viewers in every possible way, without sticking to any particular style of expression. This exhibition is filled with Alain's past and challenges. Yes! This is Alain's new journey.
We are pleased to present an exhibition by alan, a well-known artist in UNKNOWN ASIA. In the midst of the Corona Disaster, he has been reexamining his own methods of expression and involvement in art, and the exhibition will offer both his best works to date and new approaches to his art. The exhibition will feature a wide variety of his work, from his iconic large pop art pieces to new works, early sketches, and affordable limited edition prints.
